The Meralco Bolts have shown their sportsmanship by sending well wishes to TNT import Bol Bol after he suffered a partial Achilles tear during the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals. The injury occurred in the first quarter of TNT’s 87-76 loss in Game 2 at the Mall of Asia Arena. Despite being rivals in a heated playoff series, the Bolts took a moment to acknowledge the unfortunate situation. Chris Newsome of the Meralco Bolts was quick to offer his support, stating, 'I want to offer my prayers to Bol. Nobody wants to see that in the game of basketball.' He emphasized the importance of competing against the best players on the court. Meralco head coach Luigi Trillo also expressed his concern, highlighting Bol's unique skill set and the unfortunate timing of the injury as TNT was beginning to find their rhythm. Javee Mocon, who contributed 16 points and five rebounds off the bench for the Bolts, echoed the sentiment, wishing for a fully healthy TNT squad to compete against. Meanwhile, TNT manager Jojo Lastimosa revealed that they are in discussions with potential replacements who could join the team before Game 3.
